The fine decoration of this cabinet would suggest that it is from Shigatse, where some of the finest examples of decorative furniture came from. Each of the six panels is decorated with a floral composition inside a central cartouche, with a stunning blue background, which contrasts beautifully with the orange
wang-zi
, or continuous swastika design on a green background of the field. The borders are carved to create the impression of double bamboo, and then decorated with flowers and scrolls.
